Favorite Commercials
20 May '13 by King Quan, under Miscellaneous, Polls, Thoughts, Videos.
Commercials are those advertisements that can hook you into buying a product, make you laugh, make you sad or make you change the channel. From the usage of babies, cute furry animals the typical “American” family or maybe even special effects, these 30 second shows definitely provide entertainment while we wait for our show to come back on.
While some, I can do without, there are some that make my day by making me laugh or leaving me with a big azz smile on my face! Here are my Top 3 commercials that I love right now.
#3
AT&T Commercial. This is one of the may commercials where this guy asks kids all kinds of questions. This time, he asks them about the highest number they can think of. Kids say the darnedest things & make the darnedest expressions…You gotta love ‘em!
#2
State Farm Commercial. These ladies sing the State Farm jingle to see if their insurance companies can get them enough money to buy an expensive purse. The fisherman in this commercial always leaves me DYING LAUGHING!! You gotta love it!
#1
Buick Commercial for the 2013 LaCrosse featuring Shaq. He talks about the day he was born…WOOOW! LOL!
What do you think of my choices? What are your favorite commercials on TV right now!?!?!

Open Door Policy (at work)
02 March '13 by King Quan, under Jobs, Life, On Blast!!, Thoughts.
Open Door Policy is something that most of us have heard of in the workplace. In some parts of the world, people think about a world policy put in place so that different world countries could trade with China. That’s nice, but that’s not we’re discussing here. Let’s get into this policy as it’s relayed to us in the workplace.
This practice is used in businesses to allow employees to feel free to come at anytime to talk to upper management. It’s an opportunity to discuss suggestions, ask questions and talk about any problems that an individual might be encountering with co-workers, supervisors, etc. It’s meant to help with employee morale, efficiency, blah blah blah. But how well does it work??
If we were all Stepford workers, managers & CEOs, this would be wonderful!! But we’re not. We’re real people who feel frustration, anger, betrayal, jealousy and malice. Why would I go to another manager, jump the chain of command to let them know that my manager sucks?? This news would be discussed with my manager, who would address this, most likely, with me… Uhhhhh…this is the exact situation that I did NOT want to happen. Why would I want my supervisor to talk to me about what I said, about him, to his supervisor?? You KNOW this won’t be a discussion about how we can improve our work relation or his supervisory tactics that suck. Nope. This will be a discussion where I’ll be reprimanded for going over his head and warned not to do it again. Yeah…what a great policy!!!
Has this ever happened to you?
I’ve seen great workers who have embraced the open door policy and took the opportunity to discuss a situation where they were being harassed. Before you knew it, THEY were labeled as “someone surrounded by drama” & needless to say, they no longer work at the job and the person who did the harassing does. Hmmm…doesn’t something sound very wrong about this?
And management wonders why employees don’t speak up in meetings about negative issues that go on in the workplace?? When management doesn’t have the trust and respect of their employees, what do you expect? These people have families to provide for and need to live. Who wants to risk their job trying to make things better for a company that’s not trying to make things better for it’s employees?? Most of the time, management is fully aware of the negative things that are going on. If they took the initiative to “document” what they know is going on, instead of pushing that responsibility onto the non-management employees, the workplace would thrive. They could eliminate the lazy, selfish & greedy workers who take advantage of their situation. Good employees would actually think that their supervisors care about their work environment and well-being. Why would I tell you that someone is goofing off while the rest of the crew is bustin’ their azzez trying to get work done, especially when you’ve been notified in the past and you’ve done nothing to improve the situation? If I keep utilizing this open door policy, guess what’ll happen. I’ll get labeled as a “complainer”, the management “perception” of me will deteriorate and hey…if I keep doing what they tell me to do, I could lose my job. I’ve seen it happen and have done a pretty good job of avoiding this whole mess.
I think that you can express yourself to an extent. When you see that nothing is changing, then I think that’s proof that the open door policy is an illusion. It may be meant to accomplish one thing, but when it’s time to deal with the reality of things, I think management tends to come down with a bad case of memory loss. They tend to get defensive and “hands-off”. I tend to see situations where people are pushed in another direction. I don’t see the “I’ll help you with this” approach. I see the “you should talk to your supervisor about it” approach. It’s a shame because it makes employees feel like it’s “us” against “them” and that their words are falling on deaf ears.
Have you experienced this? Has the open door policy been handled wonderfully in your workplace? What’s your story?

Your Business Email is LAME!!!
07 January '13 by King Quan, under Internet, On Blast!!, Thoughts.
As advanced as we all are when it comes to the internet, I see that so many money makers, movers and shakers are still lame when it comes to the branding of their business! I mean, doing it right is so simple, it’s hard to figure out why it’s not being done.
Maybe you can explain it to me. Maybe not…
Lemme explain why I’m goin in on ‘em. As we all surf around the net, we all see the budding entrepreneurs sprouting up. They all have a web page, a product/service and then when you look at the email address they have for you to contact them, it says thisismybusiness@gmail.com or yahoo.com or aol.com. What in the hell is that lame sh!t. Do you really think I wanna do anything with you or your business and you have that kind of email? Didn’t we learn anything from the companies with a domain name that matches their company??? Why do you have an entertainment company (one example) AND you may even have a domain so that people can see your web page/web site @ www.yourcompany.com, but your email is yourcompany@gmail.com…..LAME!!!! Yunno when it really irks me? When I’m listening to the radio and I hear people talking about their companies and it’s such a good thing…such a big thing. But at the end of the interview when they give an email address for people to contact the business owner and they say, just hit me at theircompanyname@gmail.com. Now I know google is one of the hottest things going on the internet, but that doesn’t mean that you should PROMOTE google when you’re trying to promote your business. Feel me? If you haven’t figured it out, go grab a book, go to Barnes & Nobles, ask somebody….hell ask the damn company who sold you your domain name. You can get an email with your domain name and look legit. You don’t buy the domain, just for a web address, dummy! You get an email that looks like you’re running a business, like yourname@yourcompany.com. Duh!!! Let’s wake up people. Now, I wanted to have my own web presence, so I decided that I’d call my web site Quan’s Kingdom. I bought quanskingdom.com. Simple right? Now why in the hell would I make a lame ass email address like quanskingdom@gmail.com, but I see people do stuff like that all the time! NO NO NO!!!!….your email should look more like this….Quan@QuansKingdom.com (myname@mydomainname.com) Now….how does my email address look compared to yours…….HOT!!!! Yours??….NOT!!!!
Just imagine…everyone down with ur business, clique, entertainment company can have a really nice, professional looking email address. Say your company name is Love Entertainment and you buy the domain name, LoveEnt.com. Everybody who’s a part of your company can have an email address like Jay@LoveEnt.com, Janet@LoveEnt.com, CEO@SoHotEnt.com or even JDoe@LoveEnt.com, John.Doe@LoveEnt.com…get it yet? If you do, then make the right moves, not just any old moves. It’s not hard or expensive!!! Don’t believe me? Can you spare about $10-$15 a year?!?!?!? You can find a web host for as low as $5 a month and then get the domain name and you’re only paying about $20/month for your WEB PRESENCE!!!! Check GoDaddy.com. That’s where I got my domain name from.
Sorry if I went in a lil’ hard, but whenever I see someone doing it wrong, I’m like….”Oh, this is some bullsh!t. They are SO BOOTLEG!..lol.” Well, u get the gist. ‘Nuff said, now tell me what you think? Do you know/understand what/why I’m going off about(this)?

Verbal Texting – Repost
04 January '13 by King Quan, under Internet, Life, Social Networking Sites, Thoughts, Twitter.
I consider myself kind of animated and funny. My facial expressions can tell you what’s on my mind & sometimes it’s hard to put on a front. Now, we all are used to seeing facial expressions and hearing different sounds that people make when they go through different moods. You may hear a sigh, a laugh, see a smile, grin, frown, etc. Have any of you experienced someone verbally expressing themselves??? Now, I’m not talking about someone venting or telling you their thoughts. I’m talking about someone telling you the facial expression or sounds that they would normally just show you…sometimes while doing them…lol.
I’ve got two teenagers, a boy and a girl, & this is what they do sometimes, especially my son. When my daughter does it, she’ll say some of the popular online slang. So when she hears something funny, she may say, “OMG mom!! LOL!” She doesn’t do it as much as my son. We’ll be talking and if he doesn’t hear something he likes, he’ll say…”Awwwww, sad face.” I’m like, “Huh??”If he hears something he does like, he’ll say something like, “Cheese!” or “Happy face” or “Grin”. I think he goes a bit far sometimes when he says stuff like, “I’m sorry, dot dot dot, sad face, period” He says that he’ll have a conversation with someone as if he’s texting them, but he actually says the text message to you…lol. Crazy, right?
Is this the next big thing for the younger generation? They can’t put their cell phones down, so they can text. Does it only make sense that because of the texting overload that they start to actually talk in the same manner that they text? My son says that he talks to his friends like that and it makes them smile and laugh, so in one respect, I can understand it. It’s almost like how E-40 came up with his own slang. I must admit, it’s funny when he does it…I guess because it catches you off guard, yunno?
So do you think this can catch on? The jury is still out for me because in our world, usually kids (& people in general) find ways to make things easier. It’s kinda hard for me to believe that our conversations will go from, “Man, I don’t feel so good.” to “Man comma I don’t feel so good dot dot dot sad face.”
Are any of you going through this too!?!??!?
